G77 requests global body on green technology

Monday 23 November 2009

According to the Guardian, they argue that it is necessary to direct a global transition away from today’s high-carbon economy. The developing countries feel that such a body would be the only solution to effectively battle climate change.

At this point, many countries are preparing for the UN’s climate change summit in Copenhagen next month. However, this summit is mostly focused on deciding which countries should play an active role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and not the way in which this should be done. Since the development of green technology is of major importance for an active climate change policy, attention should also be given to the method in which climate change should be battled.

Developing countries feel that the costs for battling climate change should be paid by the rich countries, and a global body could help with directing the necessary changes. The USA and Europe are more reluctant when it comes to establishing a global body; they prefer an advisory committee.

This issue might get resolved at the summit in Copenhagen, but chances are that more discussion is necessary to come to an agreement on this subject. However, companies do not need a separate global body to start reducing their negative impact on the environment. C-Track offers companies different solutions that will help increasing the efficiency of the workflow and fleet, and thus reducing both costs and CO2 emissions.

The C-Track Vehicle Tracking for example offers any opportunities to increase productivity and control of your fleet. Since this C-Track application is to the point and has no hidden costs, you will able to determine exactly what you can benefit from using this system.
