Green cars remain immensely popular

Wednesday 25 November 2009

According to TheGreenCarWebsite, the average fuel economy value was 21.0mpg for 2008, and has increased a little bit to 21.1mpg in 2009. These results were presented in the annual report Light-Duty Automotive Technology, Carbon Dioxide Emissions, and Fuel Economy Trends: 1975 through 2009.

This report also states that the average CO2 emissions have decreased. This is remarkable, since the fuel economy has increased every year from 2005 until now. On average, CO2 emissions have fallen by 39g/km, which is eight per cent. Average fuel economy has increased by nine percent, by 1.8mpg, over the same period of time. This development is a direct result of automotive engineers who are concentrating on developing more advanced and fuel efficient technologies, for example for hybrids. At this point Honda is market leader when it comes to fuel efficient, ‘green’ cars.

Of course a green fleet can also be of great importance to companies. Green fleets save money, are more efficient, reduce pollution and often, they also improve the company image. There are several ways to create a green fleet; buying green cars is just one of the many options. Another option is making more efficient use of your fleet, for example by reducing idling, creating more insight into fuel usage and mileage and identify and improve areas of underperformance and inefficiency within your fleet. C-Track’s Fleet Reporting system can help with all of these aspects. This system offers you detailed reports that will assist you in greater utilisation, performance, and productivity of mile assets by optimising your fleet operation.
