Higher insurance costs because of car crime

Friday 30 October 2009

According to News Insurances, the premiums have increased with 5% in only three months. In many cases, expensive cars are targeted and after being stolen, they may be taken overseas or dismantled for parts. Most of them never return to the righteous owner. Car insurance providers think that car crime is in many cases down to the driver carelessness, which is why they increase the car insurance premiums.

Often, car thieves steal a car by using the keys that were stolen from the driver’s home, workplace or places such as gym lockers or cloakrooms. In some cases, the driver is violently pulled out of the car while parking it. In some cases, the thieves can just take the car, when the owners have started up the engine to warm it up on a cold morning.

For companies, car theft and the increased insurance premiums can have an enormous negative impact on the profits and overall company results. However, by using the vehicle tracking products of C-Track, they can do some damage control. For example, C-Track has developed the C-Track Secure Plus Protector. This satellite vehicle tracking solution uses the latest GPS and GMS/GPRS technology to recover stolen vehicles. In the event of theft, C-Track will cover the cost of the recovery team. The vehicle tracking is also possible outside Britain; even vehicles within or outside of South African borders can be traced and recovered.
